About SEGsafe
The security brand of The Specialist Electrical Group — an electrical contractor in St Albans that has been working in schools, hotels and commercial buildings for years.
An electrical contractor that does security, not the other way round
That is meant as a distinction, not a disclaimer.
SEGsafe is part of The Specialist Electrical Group, based at SEG House in Chiswell Green, St Albans. The group works across electrical contracting and compliance, managed IT and building security, and business Wi-Fi and cabling. We are in schools, hotels and commercial buildings most weeks, doing the physical work.
Security came out of that. Customers who already trusted us with fire alarms, door entry and power started asking about cameras, and we found that most of what was being sold to them was being sold by people who had never pulled a cable through a Victorian school ceiling.
The practical consequence is that we know what happens in the building. The sports hall has no signal, the mobile classrooms are on a separate network, the ceiling void in the 1970s block is full, and the caretaker is the person who will actually be on site at seven in the evening. None of that appears on a datasheet.
Stated exactly
SEG Core Ltd is a Verkada Gold Partner
And a reseller of Verkada hardware and licensing, through the distributor Distology Ltd. Gold is one of Verkada’s four published partner tiers.
The installation is ours
Design, cabling, containment, power, commissioning and certification by our own engineers, not subcontracted.
The electrical work is accredited
Through The Specialist Electrical Group’s NICEIC approval, which is a different thing from a security-only installer.
We are not Verkada
SEGsafe is not affiliated with or operated by Verkada Inc. Verkada is their trade mark, used here to identify their products.
Four decisions we have made about this site
They cost us some enquiries and we think they are worth it.
We date our regulatory content
Every Martyn’s Law page says when it was checked and against what. This one was checked on 25 September 2026.
We link to the source
Every legal and product statement carries a link to legislation.gov.uk, gov.uk or Verkada’s own documentation.
We do not sell on fear
No penalty figures in the present tense, no manufactured deadline, no photographs of police tape.
We quote what you will actually need
Including the containment, the power and the certification, so the number on the page is the number at the end.
Held by the group, and named accurately
None of these belong to SEGsafe as a brand; they are held by The Specialist Electrical Group and we say so.
To be confirmed: Accreditation certificate numbers, scopes and expiry dates (confirm before launch) We do not claim Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 for ourselves. Verkada holds ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701 and SOC 2 Type 2 — those are Verkada’s certifications, not ours.
An electrical contractor that fits security, not a security firm that subcontracts electricians
This is the whole difference, and it is worth being concrete about it. The cable route, the containment, the fire-stopping and the certificate are the job. The camera is a couple of hours at the end of it.

An electrical contractor that happens to do security
SEGsafe is part of The Specialist Electrical Group. The people who install your cameras are the people who install the containment, pull the cable, terminate the power and certify the work — which is why a door interlock with the fire alarm is a conversation rather than a problem.
