Verkada video intercom
The gate answered from wherever the person answering actually is — not from one handset in an office that is empty at four o’clock.

The handset nobody is standing next to
In a school this is the single change that office staff notice most.
- Answered anywhere. On a desk station, a phone, a browser, or through Microsoft Teams — so the call reaches whoever is actually free.
- You can see who it is. A 5MP camera in the unit, so the decision to open the gate is made on sight rather than on a voice.
- A reader is built in. Staff badge through the same unit rather than a separate reader beside it.
- Routing that reflects reality. Failover steps, schedules and automatic messages, so an unanswered call goes somewhere rather than nowhere.

What it changes at the front gate
One button, one place
Visitors stop wandering to the wrong entrance because the intercom is where the signage sends them.
Office staff are not tied to a desk
The call follows them, which matters at drop-off and pick-up.
A record of who was let in
The call, the decision and the door release are logged together with the footage.
Emergency phone mode
A locked-in call with a blue strobe and an extended call length, for a gate or a car park position.
Positions that work
- The main pedestrian gate, at a height that works for a wheelchair user and a Year 2 pupil.
- The vehicle gate, positioned for a driver's window rather than a pedestrian.
- The reception door, so out-of-hours visitors do not press the main gate at 7pm.
- The delivery entrance, which is where most unrecorded access actually happens.
- Not on a boundary where the camera would overlook a neighbour's garden.
- With a wired network connection wherever we can, because a gate on wireless is a gate that fails in February.

Can it ring our existing phones?
Is there a version without video?

Where we could not verify something we have left it out rather than repeat it from a brochure.
