An alarm panel fitted inside a building

Verkada alarms

An activation that arrives with the footage that caused it — so the response is a decision rather than a guess.

The Verkada alarm panel
The difference

Verified, not guessed

Most intruder alarms tell somebody a contact opened. This one shows them what opened it.

  • Video verification. The activation carries the clip, so a monitoring agent can see whether it is an intruder or a curtain.
  • Talk-down first. Agents can speak to the site before anything escalates — which resolves a surprising proportion of activations.
  • A contact list, then police. Verkada's documented sequence is talk-down where available, then the contact list, then emergency services if nobody can be reached.
  • UK monitoring credentials. Verkada states its UK monitoring is NSI Gold certified and ICO registered, complying with SSAIB BS5979 CAT2, BS8418 and SSAIB EN50518 PSA33.

What is actually available here

Read this carefully, because Verkada’s marketing pages and its availability page do not agree, and we would rather be accurate than optimistic.

Where it earns its keep

The activations that actually happen

Half term and holidays

An empty school is the classic target, and a verified activation gets a real response rather than a queued one.

Out-of-hours lettings

A hall in use on a Saturday while the rest of the site should be secure.

Roof and plant

Lead, copper and catalytic converters, all of which are worth a detour.

Reception panic

A wired panic input at the desk, for the visitor who will not leave.

Being straight about the wireless range

Why this page is less exciting than a manufacturer’s

Verkada has two alarm generations. The newer wireless range is, on Verkada’s own availability page, sold in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The United Kingdom and Ireland are served by the earlier generation, with the BP41 panel.

Verkada’s UK alarms marketing page nonetheless shows wireless hardware. The two Verkada sources contradict each other, and repeating the marketing page on a reseller’s site would be the easiest way to promise something we cannot deliver. So we quote the availability page, and we confirm the current UK SKU list in writing before we specify anything.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Do we have to use Verkada monitoring?
For video-verified response and dispatch, yes — that is the point of it. If you already have an ARC contract we will tell you what it would and would not do here rather than assuming you should switch.
Can it use our existing detectors?
The BP41 has 32 wired inputs, so in many refurbishments the existing wiring and some devices can be reused. That is a survey answer, and it can save a great deal of money.

Where these facts come from

Every capability on this page is taken from Verkada’s own current documentation, and the sources are listed at the foot of the page. Where we could not verify something we have left it out rather than repeat it from a brochure. SEG Core Ltd is a Verkada Gold Partner and reseller; SEGsafe is not affiliated with or operated by Verkada Inc.
