Verkada systems
Six families of hardware, one console, one login. Specified and installed by an electrical contractor that does its own cabling, power and certification.
Everything on one console
The commercial argument for Verkada is not any single camera. It is that the door, the camera, the sensor and the intercom are the same system, so an event arrives with its evidence attached and one person can see every site.

Cameras
Recording on the camera, managed in the browser. No NVR in a cupboard to fail, be stolen or be forgotten.
- Onboard storage on every camera, with 30 days of cloud backup included per camera licence
- Dome, bullet, mini, fisheye, multisensor, PTZ and LTE remote models
- People, vehicle, motion and licence-plate search from one console

Access control
Doors and cameras on the same platform, and the ability to lock a site down from a phone.
- AC12, AC43 and AC62 controllers — one, four or sixteen doors
- Cards, fobs, PIN, mobile credentials and Apple Wallet
- Emergency Scenarios: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter

Video intercom
The front gate answered from wherever the person answering actually is.
- TD33, TD53 and TD63 models with a reader built in
- Answered on a desk station, a phone, a browser or through Microsoft Teams
- Call routing with failover, schedules and automatic messages

Guest and visitor management
Knowing who is in the building — which is a safeguarding answer and a fire roll-call answer at once.
- Sign-in on an iPad with photo, badge printing and host notification
- Screening questions and watch lists before a visitor is admitted
- A live list of who is on site, exportable at the assembly point

Environmental sensors
The places a camera must never go — toilets, changing rooms, boarding corridors.
- SV21, SV23 and SV25 — vape index, air quality, noise, occupancy, temperature
- No camera, no microphone recording, no images
- Alerts to named staff when the vape index rises

Alarms
Intruder detection where an activation arrives with the footage that caused it.
- BP41 panel with 32 wired inputs and BK11 or BK21 keypads
- Professional monitoring in the UK and Ireland, NSI Gold certified
- Video-verified response and talk-down before any dispatch

Command
One login across every device and every site, with roles that actually restrict what people can see.
- Every camera, door, sensor, intercom and alarm in one browser
- SSO with Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace; SCIM provisioning
- Role-based permissions per site, per device, per user group
Verified capability
Taken from Verkada’s own documentation. Nothing here is our interpretation.
Lock down doors in seconds
Emergency Scenarios follow the Standard Response Protocol — Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter. You define which doors lock, which unlock and who is notified. Triggered from Command, the Command mobile app, the Verkada Pass app, a wired button or the API. Verkada states these take effect within seconds when triggered from a wired button or Pass.
Alert named people instantly
Alerts reach chosen individuals or groups by push, SMS, email or a messaging platform. This is targeted notification to the people running the response.
Verify what is actually happening
Door events, alarm activations and sensor readings arrive with the footage attached, so the person deciding what to do is looking at the incident rather than describing it.
Speak to a location remotely
The BZ11 talk-down speaker carries live speech from Command or the mobile app, or plays a pre-recorded or text-to-speech message automatically when an alarm triggers.
Detect vaping where a camera cannot go
SV sensors report a vape index in toilets and changing rooms with no camera and no image capture.
Account for people
Verkada Guest holds a live list of who is on site. Incident Response adds roll call and reunification, and requires Guest.
Keep the record
Command logs who viewed, exported or changed what, alongside door, alarm and scenario history.
Three things worth settling at the survey
None of these change the answer, but all three are easier to agree now than after an order.
Where the spoken word has to reach
Verkada alerts the people you name. If your procedure needs an instruction heard in every room, that is a voice-alarm or PA system and we specify it alongside — either the InformaCast integration Verkada documents, or a conventional system from our fire and life-safety side.
Where the data sits
Footage is held on the camera; the console and backup run in Verkada's EU region in Ireland, under ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, SOC 2 Type 2 and the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Worth confirming against your own procurement policy at the survey rather than at contract.
Where panic buttons go
Panic and hold-up are hardware — wired to an access controller, or wireless. We position them with you at the desks that actually need them and tie them into the same alerting.
The things a buyer actually asks
Where the footage lives
On the camera, with 30 days of cloud backup included per camera licence. Cloud backup is not automatic — it is enabled per camera and is not retrospective.
Where the data is held
The EU region, Ireland. There is no UK region and we will not pretend there is. Authentication data is processed in the US during initial set-up.
Certifications
Verkada holds ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, SOC 2 Type 2, and certification under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Licensing
Every device needs a licence, in 1, 3, 5 or 10-year terms, with unlimited users. Firmware, features and support are included.
Warranty
Verkada publishes warranties “up to 10 years, depending on the model”. The datasheets for the cameras, controllers, readers, intercoms, sensors and alarm panel we typically specify state ten years.
If a licence lapses
Devices keep recording, but Command access is restricted after a 30-day grace period and alerts stop. Worth knowing before you sign a one-year term.
Where these facts come from
Every capability on this page is taken from Verkada’s own current documentation, and the sources are listed at the foot of the page. Where we could not verify something we have left it out rather than repeat it from a brochure. SEG Core Ltd is a Verkada Gold Partner and reseller; SEGsafe is not affiliated with or operated by Verkada Inc.

An electrical contractor that happens to do security
SEGsafe is part of The Specialist Electrical Group. The people who install your cameras are the people who install the containment, pull the cable, terminate the power and certify the work — which is why a door interlock with the fire alarm is a conversation rather than a problem.
