Verkada security for schools, trusts and venues — installed by The Specialist Electrical Group.

How we work

Survey first, written scope, our own engineers, and one number afterwards.

The process

Six stages, and the first two are free

  1. 1

    A conversation

Twenty minutes on the phone. What has actually happened on your site, what you already have, and whether this is worth a visit.

  2. 2

    A free site survey

We walk the site with you. Where cameras should point, which doors matter, what the fire strategy says, what the network can take. You get a written summary whether or not you go further.

  3. 3

    A written scope and quotation

Itemised: hardware, licences, installation, aftercare. Positions justified individually, and exclusions stated.

  4. 4

    Design and coordination

Locking arrangements agreed with your fire risk assessor. Network agreed with whoever runs it. Programme agreed around your term dates.

  5. 5

    Installation

Containment, cable, power, terminations, commissioning and certification by our own engineers. DBS-checked on school sites.

  6. 6

    Handover and aftercare

Command configured with roles, a short written guide, a DPIA starting point and signage, and a review date in the diary.

What we bring that a box-shifter does not

Four things

Electrical certification

The installation is certified under The Specialist Electrical Group’s NICEIC approval.

Fire competence

We install fire systems as a group, so door locking is designed properly rather than bolted on.

One team

The people who survey are the people who install and the people who answer afterwards.

A willingness to say no

If the survey concludes you need two sensors rather than a system, that is what it will say.

The work itself

What the installation looks like when an electrical contractor does it

The camera is a couple of hours. The cable route, the containment, the fire-stopping where it crosses a compartment wall and the certificate at the end are the job.

An engineer working at height fitting a camera to a wall
Containment and route first. Where the cable goes decides how the building looks afterwards, and it is the part a box-shifter leaves to somebody else.

Handover is a person sitting with your staff until they can use it, not a PDF and a login emailed over.
What we ask from you

Five things that make it go well

  • What has actually happened on site in the last two years.
  • Your fire risk assessment, or contact details for whoever holds it.
  • Whoever runs your network, in the room for half an hour.
  • Your data protection lead, at the point we discuss retention and access.
  • A decision-maker at the survey, because the useful conversations happen while we are walking.

Start with a survey, not a quotation.

We walk the site, look at what you already have, and tell you what would genuinely help — including where the answer is that you do not need anything.
